DnD characters - Fighters

Description

The title of this does not mean all the characters in it are of the Fighter class. I chose it because each character in it is a fighter in her own sense, living for what she believes in and basically surviving against the odds. I thought about changing it to "Warriors," but that implies war, and "Fighters" fits better in the description.

Anyway, this is the middle piece in the series. The dividers here are different because they're not all just one class (from left to right - sorcerer, archer-fighter, and rogue). The blue things are supposed to be a sort-of interpretation of Magic Missile, the arrows are just that, and the circles are supposed to be coins.

And on to the characters themselves, from left to right.....

~ Nyx Runebrook ~

- A female Gnome sorceress. She grew up in a typically Gnomish community, the only daughter of her parents. When she was young she came down with a terrible illness, which took most of the color from her skin even though she survived. Her magical powers manifested at puberty (wherein she almost destroyed part of their house). Before she was fully grown her father was killed and her mother was kidnapped by an evil Elven mage. She was taken in then by a friend of her father's, Drake Nightstar (male Elven mage), and grew up the rest of the way in his family. As such, she acts a bit like an Elf, celebrating their orc-slaying holiday and worshipping their Gods. Her purpose in life has been to save her mother and slaughter the Mage who kidnapped her and killed her father. She's a bit crazy and has this weird Drow complex, where she hates them but dresses in spider things. Fun times.

~ Hilde of the Amber Lynx ~

- The only human character I've played on a regular basis. She comes from the same game Arwen does, and hails from the same Amazon-like group of Barbarians that Eowyn does (I mentioned her in Arwen's description). However, her class is technically Fighter, with a specialty in Archery. She can also throw daggers really well. The stone on her stomach is actually grafted into her skin, over her bellybutton. That's common in her tribe, amber stones were put in ritually, the shape designation what purpose they filled in the group. The eye signifies archers, while a paw signifies technical Barbarians (we didn't come up with any more). Before I started playing Hilde, her tribe was attacked and overtaken my male Mages, who kidnapped the survivors and forced them to fight and kill each other in a type of arena, using them for sex slaves at night. Hilde had been in love with one of her tribeswomen, who she then had to kill in the arena. She escaped some time later, and met up with Eowyn again. Because of what happened to them she HATES magic, though she tolerates divine magic because it comes from the Gods. For a while she was involved with a Drow woman who had joined the group in disguise, though I forget what came of that. When Arwen was summoned back to her home place, she went with her, and I think that's the last I played.

~ Ren ~

- The only Deep Gnome character I've ever played, though I still put her in the general Gnome category (hey, if Nyx fits, then so does she), and the only Rogue I've ever played. She's a rather androgynous woman who originally wore her clothing to hide the one thing that really distinguishes her as female - her hips. She grew up in a Deep Gnome city and was raised in an abusive family, which she managed to escape, leaving the rest of her family behind because they were too weak to follow her. For a while she worked the streets as a common thief, but after learning about a not-well-liked Drow Rogue who was very good at his craft, sought him out and demanded he teach her. He agreed to, but only if he could "use" her, which Ren didn't understand at first. He made it clear by systematically raping her. Despite that, she stayed with him long enough to learn what she wanted, and escaped before he could kill her. Eventually she got a job working in a caravan that took people to and from the Underdark, where she made some friends of the Drow who worked with her, the closest of which was Cyndil (female Drow assassin who was even more fucked up than she was). After leaving the caravan to work alone as a rogue, Ren fell out of favor in her trade. The only place she could think of to try again was the surface world, so against her better thinking she traveled there. She did even worse there and ended up starving on the streets, until she ran into Ellery Brookstone, a female Gnome bard (who you will learn more about in the following piece). They began traveling together, Ellery bringing Ren out of her darkness. They fell in love and continued traveling, just the two of them. Eventually they ran into some of the Drow Ren had known, who were actually traveling with a few of Ellery's old party members, and visited with them for a bit. In the process of this Ellery acquired two of Cyndil's slaves (because she was disturbed by the slavery and Cyndil just gave them to her), so now Ren and Ellery are back on the surface with them, teaching them how to live there as free people.

:phew: As in the last piece, if you want more pictures of them, just ask.
