Period Accurate

Description

This stems from a certain frustration I have with roleplaying games in general (though of course, especially DnD, since that's what I play). The fact that women can get pregnant comes up sometimes, and female characters do sometimes get pregnant, but a woman's period is NEVER discussed.

Why? Do our characters not get periods? Can races in DnD and other such games reproduce without that monthly cycle? Is it because most players and DM's are male, so they don't think about this kinda stuff? Or is it an "inconvenience"?

So I drew this, and forgive the really crooked lines. Here's some of my current and past DnD characters discussing their opinions about their own periods. Retrospectively, I think it would have been fun to draw a big group picture of them around a campfire or something talking about this, and not chibi-styled, but this is fun too. Here's who's who in each panel, and what they're saying (since my handwriting is horrible):

:bulletred: Panel 1 - Gazit and Terra (aka Arwen), both clerics of Ehlonna :bulletred:

Gazit: I believe that a woman's period is a gift from The Lady reminding us of our connection to the work and all of life!

Terra: Me too!

:bulletred: Panel 2 - Nyx, sorceress :bulletred:

Nyx: MY periods are clearly measurments of my power as a sorceress. Hot flashes? Painful cramps? BAH! Those are simply POWER SURGES!

:bulletred: Panel 3 - Ellery and Cyd, both bards :bulletred:

Ellery: Well, I guess they're useful in getting out of stuff you don't want to do.

Cyd: Yeah, and its a great excuse for getting away from ugly people who want to fuck you.

:bulletred: Panel 4 - Zoey, barbarian, and Ren, rogue :bulletred:

Zoey: Ugh. They're just a pain in the ass.

Ren: .....Yeah.

:bulletred:

.....Sooooo yeah. This is what I get for being a gamer and a Feminist ^^; And to those curious, my opinion about my own period is usually the same as Panel 1, though I often agree with Panel 4 as well.

:bulletpurple::bulletpurple: EDIT :bulletpurple::bulletpurple: Okay, apparently there's a misconception that I meant I want there to be rules governing periods, by dice rolls or something and all that shit. That is NOT what I meant. I simply meant that it is interesting that periods aren't addressed from a ROLEPLAY standpoint. The list of questions I wrote out was hypothetical as well, but answer them if you wish. ...Yup.

I hate periods!! I'm happy I have mine now, but seriously, it sucks having them when you don't want kids! The thought of pregnancy and childbirth scare the crap out of me!
